Sultan Abdul Samad Building

The sultan's palace.

The Palace of Sultan Abdul Samad is one of the most famous sites in the city of Kuala Lumpur. It was inaugurated in 1897 by the architect A.C. Norman and the building was used by successive administrations during the period of British sovereignty in Malaysia. Norman was inspired by Moorish architecture for this palace after studying mosques in India and Africa. A forty metre high clock tower is the main feature of the building surmounted by a copper dome.
Nowadays, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building serves as the Supreme Court.
